Roofnest Sparrow Adventure XL vs Roam Rambler Hardshell Rooftop Tent

Here you have my comparison of the Roofnest Sparrow Adventure XL and Roam Rambler Hardshell Rooftop Tents, both easy to use and reliable shelters built in the same style.

Why this comparison

The main reason is that both shelters belong to the same group of hard shell roof top tents. Even more precisely, they are of the pop-up type which means that the lid of the box raises and becomes the roof of the tent.

They are equipped with gas struts so the lid opens by itself. Both also include a ladder and a mattress that are stored inside the box. This is a type that allows for leaving all your bedding inside the tent, so the bed is always ready as soon as you raise the roof.

In the picture below you have the Roofnest Sparrow Adventure XL shown on a car:

Here you have a ABS box reinforced with ASA plastic. Note this is not a fiberglass. The roof is designed so that you can attach solar panels. There is also an indentation made on the roof for storage of gear.

You also have a pair of crossbars that can be used to transport your bulky gear on the roof of the pop-up tent box. They are visible in the picture above.

Note that they have several of them on their site with a similar name, Sparrow, Sparrow XL, Sparrow EYE, Sparrow Adventure, and Sparrow Adventure XL, so do not get confused. This text is about the Sparrow Adventure XL.

You can see more about it in this video, please have a look:

Now compare this with what you see in the following picture that shows the Roam Rambler Hardshell Rooftop Tent. It looks very similar, doesn’t it?

But the box in this case is a fiberglass reinforced with aluminum stays. The best part is its panoramic windows, this is a unique feature here.

Summary

So you have seen it, both Roofnest Sparrow Adventure XL and Roam Rambler Hardshell Rooftop Tent have received 4 out of 8 pluses in the comparison table.

But not all the features have the same importance in general and for every person, we all have preferences. For example, the price difference is negligible, but those extra cross bars are definitely not. The same holds for the warranty differences, and if you are a tall person, you will want more peak height.
