iKamper Annex Plus Inner Tent is an accessory shelter designed to be used as a ground tent inside of their Annex Plus. This adds to sleeping capacity, and such a set together with the roof top tent is suitable even for larger families.
Key features & benefits
- Polycotton tent.
- Two sizes.
- Two doors.
- E-cable port.
What is in the name
As mentioned above, the iKamper Annex Plus Inner Tent is a shelter that is designed to be used inside of their Annex Plus tents. They have several versions of these Annexes, and the Inner Tent is built in two slightly different sizes. I shall call them Version 1 and Version 2.
So the whole idea of this is as follows. You have your roof top tent on the car, and then you attach the Annex Plus tent to it. With this, you get more than 12 square meters of fully protected and functional floorless space next to your car.
Now, inside of the Annex Plus, you can attach this Inner Tent as shown in the picture below. This creates an extra sleeping area for two people.
So if this is about parents with kids, the parents may use the Inner Tent for sleeping on the ground, while the kids will likely want to enjoy the roof top tent.
The picture above shows the tent with its two doors, they are with mesh, but they also have full size zippered panels of the same material as the tent itself.
The two doors are here so that you can exit on the rear side where the Annex Plus has its third door. So this is designed to fit it perfectly.
Materials
There are no metal poles here, the tent attaches to the Annex Plus from inside. The walls and the canopy are a breathable polycotton fabric. The floor is some synthetic but I have not seen information about it.
There is an E-cable port on the wall shown in the picture.
Who is it for
Regarding capacity, this is a tent that has enough space for two users. The inner floored area is around 3 square meters. Note that it is not really wide, but its length is excellent, you will see the numbers below. I wonder why they made it so narrow.
So assuming this is for parents, then dependent on the size of the roof top tent, the whole set can be perfect for 4 people or for 6 people. As you realize, this is now about real family camping and the set is suitable for relatively large families.
Note that you still have your car incorporated in all this for storage or even for sleeping.
Regarding seasons & climate, the Inner Tent is fully closable and it is built of a quality polycotton fabric. You can fully close its doors, and you have a bathtub floor as well. This tent is inside of the Annex Plus, which is itself fully closable.
In other words, you have a true 2-layer shelter here. The Annex Plus is with a huge waterproof rating and supported with exceptionally strong poles.
The roof top tent, which is a 3rd element here is itself designed for year round use. So there is no doubt that you can use this whole set in all seasons and in all climates.
One alternative use – without roof top tent
If you check the features of the Annex Plus tent, you will realize that it can be used on its own. This is simply a tunnel type tent with a full set of stakes and guylines.
Now, with the Inner Tent inside, you have the inner shelter with its own floor and with full protection from the crawling insects and ground water. So this set, Annex Plus together with the Inner Tent can be used on their own for camping, no need to take the roof top tent at all.
The Annex Plus has a wall (divider) that attaches to the roof top tent platform from below. It also zips to the side walls of the Annex Plus. When you remove the car, you will have to remove the divider and roll one part of the sides walls of the Annex Plus, and fix it to the sides. You can see this in the video below.
In this configuration you have an inner 2-person tent under a large shell Annex Plus which is open on one side. So this is just like an ordinary tunnel tent with a large front porch.

Summary
In summary, this iKamper Annex Plus Inner Tent is just an accessory element to be used together with the Annex Plus of the same brand. Both together add a lot to functionality and comfort of numerous roof top tents of the iKamper.
As discussed above, it is more versatile than what the manufacturer realizes. I argue that these two elements can be used as a ground camping tent separately from the roof top tent.
